A Busy and Inspiring Time at Timeout During Children's Mental Health Week

Last week was an exciting and impactful time for everyone at Timeout as we marked Children's Mental Health Week. Across our schools—Brearley Hall School, Riverbank, and Brookland School—students and staff wholeheartedly embraced this year's theme, "Know Yourself, Grow Yourself," with a variety of fun and meaningful activities designed to raise awareness and support children's mental health.

Brearley Hall School Highlights

At Brearley Hall School, our students and staff showed incredible enthusiasm and creativity. The activities planned by form tutors brought the community together while raising funds and awareness for this vital cause. Here’s what took place:

  • A Beat the Goalie Competition, where students competed for fun while cheering each other on.

  • An Auction of signed sport shirts, skateboards, and a luxurious Valentine's Day hamper that generated buzz and excitement.

  • A Bake Sale featuring cakes, buns, biryani, samosas, and bhajis, lovingly prepared by Ms Saleem. The food was a big hit, and we are so grateful to her for her efforts!

  • Hot, Freshly Cooked Waffles with toppings and Popcorn Cones, which added a delicious touch to the week.

  • The sale of Gliders and Balloons, which brought smiles to students' faces.

A major highlight was the visit from Katie at Invictus and her adorable dog Dexter. Katie hosted an assembly to talk about children's mental health, and her engaging presentation really resonated with the students, who were all very well behaved during the assembly's.

Riverbank School Raises Awareness in Style

Riverbank School took a hands-on approach to Children's Mental Health Week with baking activities. The cakes baked by students were sold in support of Invictus, which instilled an important lesson on giving back and supporting causes close to our hearts.

One of the standout moments at Riverbank was Bluesome Good Day—a themed event where students dressed head to toe in blue to raise awareness for children’s mental health. The sea of blue throughout the school amplified a sense of unity and purpose. Katie from Invictus also brought her presentation to our primary school students, reinforcing the importance of wellness and self-awareness from a young age.

Brookland School's Engaging Activities

At Brookland School, the focus was on wellness and forms of self-expression. The week included planned yoga and exercise sessions, giving students the opportunity to unwind and focus on their physical and mental wellbeing. Friday was an exciting day with students designing posters about mental health, promoting awareness through creativity and art.

The baking activities during vocational lessons were another favourite among students, merging life skills with a greater purpose of spreading awareness and positivity.

The Power of "Know Yourself, Grow Yourself"

This year's theme, "Know Yourself, Grow Yourself," provided a meaningful framework for all the activities. It encouraged students to explore self-awareness and personal growth, which are crucial components of mental health. Witnessing our students immerse themselves in this theme and actively participate in the events was incredibly heart warming and inspiring.

Gratitude to Our Supporters

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our amazing teachers, who worked tirelessly to make this week an enormous success. Your dedication, creativity, and guidance were instrumental in creating such a positive experience for our students.

Whether it was hosting assemblies, organising activities, or guiding students through their projects, your support demonstrated the strength of our school community in promoting the importance of mental health.

Supporting Children’s Mental Health Beyond the Week

Children’s Mental Health Week may have come to an end, but we’re committed to keeping this conversation going all year round. By engaging children, building awareness, and supporting mental health initiatives in our schools, we can continue to foster environments where children thrive both emotionally and academically.

Here’s to many more moments of growth and connection as we help our students "know themselves" and "grow themselves"! 💙
